Last week, ordered this old Tamil movie “Paava manippu” from Netflix. The movie was amazing. Brilliant acting, great songs and above all a meaningful story. These old movies are evergreen because the story they narrate is relevant even to the present day.
In the movie, 3 children grow up in a Muslim, Christian and Hindu household and then later realize they are related to each other. The “negative” role played by M.R.Radha is that of a rich man obsessed with hoarding money and doesn’t care about relationships. Sivaji Ganesan who is a Muslim falls in love with Devika who is brought up in a Christian household. Sivaji Ganesan’s father in the movie who is a devout Muslim works with a Orthodox Hindu Brahmin as a village doctor.
These are themes we all are aware of in some form or the other, yet what makes in different in an old movie is that it is wrapped with a sincerity to give a message to an audience, to change the society for the better.
However it doesn’t mean I denounce new movies(I love any movie with a good story). Just that am a fan of watching “Black and white” movies. It feels like you are back in the times of your grandparents
